Elephanta Island (also called Gharapuri Island or place of caves) is one of a number of islands in Mumbai Harbour in east of Mumbai.This island is a popular tourist destination for a day trip because of the island's cave temples,that have been carved out of rock. The island is thickly wooded with palm, mango and tamarind trees. The island is easily accessible by ferry from Mumbai, being about 10 km from the south east coast of the island city. Boats leave daily from the Gatway of India, taking about an hour each way for the journey. From the boat landing stage on the island, a walkway leads to steps that go up to the famous caves.
Hanging Gardens of Mumbai, also known as Ferozeshah Mehta Gardens,is at the top of Malabar Hills on its western side, just opposite the Kamala Nehru Park. They provide lovely sunset views over theArabian Sea and feature numerous hedges carved into the shapes of animals.
They are the three Nehru Planetariums, located in Mumbai,New Delhi and Bangalore. The Mumbai planetarium complex is basically a bank of eight computers that have the latest database of the sky loaded onto them. The computers send the information to six high-resolution video projectors that cover the entire dome at Worli Nehru Planetarium at Mumbai is closed on Mondays.
The Borivali National Park,officially known as the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, is a rareNational Park that lies within city limits. It encompasses an area of 104 square kilometres. The park is also the largest park in the world located within city limits. The park has a rich flora and fauna. The park is a bustling forest and an estimated 800 types of flowering plants; 284 kinds of birds; 5,000 species of insects; 36 types of mammals; 50 reptiles and 150 species of butterfly are found in the park. The park has also many endangered species of plant and animal. A small section of the park is open to the public. A mini zoo was also created so that visitors can view the animals from afar.A toy train travels around the tourist zone showcasing parts of the rich biodiversity. Many visitors do also travel to the Kanheri Caves.
Juhu Beachis one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Mumbai city. It is situated on the shores of Arabian Sea in Juhu suburb.There are three main entrances to the beach. One is from the Vile Parle side, another is from the Santacruz side and the third one is from the Andheri side.It is famous for its Mumbai 'street food', notably bhelpuri, pani puri, Shevprui chaats and Pav bhaji. On the southern end of Juhu beach there are many luxury hotels and apartments.
